Beginners get 29 per cent of the runs, with the more advanced receiving 21 per cent. Due to its position, Sauze d’Oulx has access to 146 slopes and a total of 400kms of runs. These are all serviced by 92 lifts operating between 1,350m and 2,800m, and managing 70,900 skiers per hour. The total vertical descent measures 1,450m at this resort, which sits at 1,510m. There is a further 15kms of cross-country skiing plus a snowboard park at Sauze d’Oulx. For an alternative ski location, try one of the other nine resorts which are completely linked to the resort of Sauze d’Oulx; four are part of the Vialettea ski domain. These include the well known resorts of Claviere Italy’s oldest, and Sestriere, most of the 1997 World Championships and one of the better resorts in the area. The season runs from November to April, with the best conditions in early March. Cheap rates are offered until mid-December and towards the end of April. Sauze dOulx is 80kms from Turin International Airport, the nearest to the resort with a short train journey direct to the station at Oulx and bus service to the resort. Alternatively, you can catch the Eurostar service from London to Paris, and then the overnight train from Paris to Turin. From there a train and bus service gets you straight to the resort. Apres-ski in Sauze dOulxHost to some more animated visitors over the previous decades, Sauze dOulx village sits at an elevation of 1,510m and offers access to another nine resorts in the area. It has a range of accommodation, both traditional and modern, plus 24 restaurants and 27 bars providing a lively après-ski. Three nightclubs keep the livelier skiers going well into the night.Around 27 bars keep visitors to the resort in high spirits while 24 restaurants serve food ranging from Italian to through to Indian and Mexican. There are three well established nightclubs at Sauze d’Oulx, plus a small number of non-ski facilities such as an ice rink, bowling alley and sauna. The accommodation varies in style and budget, with modern apartments next to traditional wooden buildings. There are also ski schools at the resort that cater for children, as well as childcare facilities. Some attractive non-ski facilities accessible at Sauze d’Oulx include an ice rink, a bowling alley and a sauna. There are some captivating restaurants and bars around the village offering entertainment plus some very lively nightclubs Transportation to Sauze dOulxSauze dOulx is situated close to the French border and 80kms from Turin International Airport. You can reach the resort via air or rail, or alternatively by car. The easiest, most convenient option is to fly to Turin and catch a train direct to the train station at Oulx, from where there is a short bus transfer to the resort. Alternatively, catch a Eurostar to Paris, connect with the night train to Turin, and again take a train from Turin to Oulx, with a short bus transfer.By car, Sauze dOulx is 956kms from Calais; the journey time is 8 hours, 40 minutes. The trip will cost €86 in road tolls and will take you through France and on into Italy. If you fly to Turin and plan to hire a vehicle, drive to the resort by taking the A32 motorway and following the signs to Sauze dOulx. By train, board the Eurostar service from London Waterloo and Ashford in Kent to Paris. Then continue on to Turin from Paris aboard the night train with sleeper facilities. At Turin, continue on to the resort via a train to Oulx station and a short bus to the resort. London to Turin will take you around 11 hours, with a further hour from the station at Turin to Oulx. The nearest international airport to Sauze dOulx is 80kms away at Turin. From the airport, catch a train via the Torino-Bardonecchi line, and get off at Oulx. From there, it’s a short bus journey direct to the resort.
