Mont Tremblant ski resort offers just as much entertainment off the ski slopes as it does on them, with alternatives including: ice-skating, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, skidooing, ice-climbing, a fitness centre, a swimming pool and hot tubs. Also at your disposal are childcare facilities and 45 upmarket shops retailing an assortment of books, fashion, art, perfume and much more. Accommodation is supplied by a selection of hotels, chalets and condos. Additionally, nights are vibrant at the resort, with three bars, a disco and 40-plus eateries to provide amusement. The slopes are open from December to April at Mont Tremblant, with optimal snow conditions in February. Discount rates are offered in anticipation of the festive spell and towards the end of the season. The easiest means of reaching the resort is by flying to Dorval Airport in Montréal and taking taxi, bus or limousine transportation to the resort. Skiing in Mont TremblantMont Tremblant is eastern Canada’s most sizeable ski area, encompassing a cumulative 79kms of slope distance. The resort is also known for its incredible terrain parks, and is home to the highest half-pipe in eastern North America. Most visitors reach the resort by flying into Montréal and taking road transportation to the resort. Après-ski in Mont TremblantIn addition to skiing, Mont Tremblant features ice-skating on Lac Miroir and Lake Moore, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, skidooing, ice-climbing, a fitness centre, a swimming pool and hot tubs. Après-ski is lively at the resort, with three bars, a disco, and more than 40 restaurants to provide after-hours entertainment.Accommodation at the resort is provided by an attractive selection of authentic chalets, townhouses and hotels, many of them with convenient access to the mountain. The resort is well-equipped with childcare facilities and over 40 shops selling an enticing and diverse selection of perfume, books, clothing, art and more. Within easy driving distance of Mont Tremblant, and perfect for an overnight stay, is Cantons-de-l’Est (Eastern Townships), with picturesque country inns dotting the scenic shores of Lake Massawippi. Montréal, boasting a myriad of cultural, historical and recreational attractions, is another attractive option. Transportation to Mont TremblantMont Tremblant is situated in the Laurentian Mountains of Québec, 120kms northwest of Montréal. You can reach the resort via road transportation from Montréal. The most convenient way to get to Mont Tremblant is to fly into Dorval Airport and take a bus or taxi the rest of the way.Self-drive from New York involves taking I-87/autoroute 15 to Montréal and on to Sainte-Agathe. From there, take autoroute 117 and Montee Ryan to Mont Tremblant. The trip covers 750kms and takes approximately nine hours. From Ottawa, take routes 50 and 148 to Montebello and route 323 to Sainte-Jovite, and then Montee Ryan to the resort. Bank on approximately two hours for this 170-kilometre journey. Rail services arrive regularly in Montréal from all over Canada, including Toronto, Ottawa and Québec City. One Amtrak train runs daily from Washington, DC and New York, making frequent stops along the way and taking approximately 10 to 12 hours. Montréal is served by three airports, but to access Mont Tremblant the most practical of these is Dorval Airport, which receives frequent national and international flights from Canada, the US and the UK. Taxis, buses and limousines provide transportation to Mont Tremblant, taking approximately one hour to reach the resort. If you hire a car, head north of the city on autoroute 15 and route 117 north, and turn right on to Montee Ryan for the resort after Sainte-Jovite. Greyhound buses travel to Montréal from Boston and New York, while the Voyageur Company runs buses between the city and all parts of Québec, including Mont Tremblant.
