Igls is connected by Skibus to five other ski resorts, with one pass valid for all six ski areas, allowing visitors free range of a vast playing field. The city of Innsbruck is only six kilometres away and offers endless opportunities for sightseeing, recreation and entertainment. The ski season at Igls resort extends from December to the beginning of April, with low season rates applicable before Christmas and after the New Year. Après-ski is fairly understated, but there are a number of bars, discos and dancehalls to satisfy those seeking some nightlife. Although skiing is Igls’ number one activity, there is no shortage of winter alternatives. In time off from the slopes, visitors are invited to enjoy the resort’s natural toboggan run, natural ice-skating rink, horseback riding facilities, indoor swimming pool, tennis hall with three courts, spa centre and deer park. Possibilities for après-ski entertainment include frequent cultural and folkloric events, and an array of bars, discos and dancehalls. Accommodation in town is diverse, with lodging options ranging from top-class hotels through to affordable hostels and other accommodation. Igls also provides children’s facilities, including a nursery and a ski instruction school. Nearby Innsbruck (six kilometres away) offers every service and store imaginable. Transportation to Innsbruck IglsIgls is situated six kilometres above the well-known city of Innsbruck, making it easily accessible via road, rail or air. The quickest and most convenient means of accessing the resort is by taking a flight to Innsbruck’s provincial airport (which receives regular flights from major European cities, including London, Paris and Amsterdam) and then the free Skibus to Igls.Taking your vehicle from the UK involves a car ferry journey to the French port of Calais, then driving over 1,100kms to Igls. The highways along this route are of a high standard, but peppered with tolls, which work out to be rather expensive. If you opt for hiring a car on the European continent instead, the route from Munich Airport is as follows: take the Munich bypass, head south on the A-8 and A-93, then take the A-12 southwest to Innsbruck, and the L-33 south to Igls. From Innsbruck Airport, Igls is located 10kms away via the B-174 and L-33. From London, there are train connections all the way to Innsbruck from where the free Skibus provides hourly transfers to Igls. If you decide to take the train from the UK, the first leg of the journey is on the Eurostar, which leaves Waterloo Station station at 17.:09 daily. From Paris’ gare de l’Est, take an overnight train to Munich, from where five Eurocity trains make the journey to Innsbruck daily. The quickest and easiest way to reach Igls is by catching a flight to Innsbruck’s provincial airport. There are regular, direct flights to Innsbruck from London, Paris, Amsterdam and other major European cities. A free bus transfer to Igls is available from the airport terminal. The nearest international airport is FJ Strauss Airport in Munich, which receives flights from all over the globe and has a direct rail link with Innsbruck. Five trains per day make the three-hour journey from Munich to Innsbruck, from where transport is provided to Igls by the Skibus.
