Skate boarding

Skate boarding is a fun sport to learn during vacation. While some think of it as a children's game, it's a actually a very challenging sport and a great form of exercise. It is especially popular among teenagers, but it's easy enough to learn and can be enjoyed by the whole family. It's also great if you're traveling because it doesn't require licenses or special equipment. Skateboarding accidents are a major risk, though, so we recommend getting adequate travel insurance if you want to try it out.

Skate boarding can be as simple as strolling in parks or sidewalks, or it may include steep ramps and tricky jumps. The latter is definitely trickier, especially for beginners. Common accidents include falling off the board or ramp, and colliding with other skateboarders or oncoming vehicles. Depending on the strength of impact, injuries can include cuts, bruises, scratches, dislocated or broken bones, and concussions. These are usually treatable, but they can be expensive especially if you're in a foreign country and have no travel insurance.

There are good skate boarding sites in most areas which are secluded from major roads to prevent accidents. If you are a beginner, stay away from road traffic and consider taking a basic safety course before skating on actual roads. Wear protective clothing such as helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads.

Skate boarding is considered a Grade 1 risk sport. This means it has a relatively low risk of accidents and injury. Still, it's best to have your travel insurance in place so you can better enjoy your vacation.
