Take a trip to Ibiza with single trip travel insurance from Essential Travel

If you are planning a beach holiday in Europe this summer then Ibiza is hard to beat. Whether you are looking for a non-stop party atmosphere, a quiet two weeks by the sea, or a mixture of both then Ibiza is the place for you. Originally famous as a disco location in the seventies Ibiza has risen to become one of the major holiday locations for people with an interest in music. As well as this the island boasts many resorts with a family holiday in mind.

Take a single trip to Ibiza - The main towns

There are two main towns in Ibiza. San Antonio and Ibiza town. San Antonio is very popular with young Brits and is famous for it’s Costa Del Sol style bars and clubs. The town is fairly modern with no real beach but what it lacks in beauty it certainly makes up for in fun. There are literally hundreds of bars and restaurants in San Antonio and as well as the many smaller clubs it is also home to one of the most famous clubs on the Island – Es Paradis. In addition to this San Antonio is also home to the world famous Café Del Mar.

Ibiza town is more relaxed and benefits from being situated in an ancient port with beautiful ruins and architecture. The town rests on the side of a huge marina which is usually full of luxury yachts. This classy feel is mirrored by the shops and restaurants to be found in the town itself. If you are planning to do some serious shopping whilst on holiday then Ibiza town is the place to go. There are many bars along the waterfront and up in the ruins themselves which consist of a maze of small medieval streets. Ibiza town is also home to the gay community of Ibiza and is the location of another of Ibiza’s most famous clubs – Pacha.

In addition to San Antonio and Ibiza Town there are many smaller towns around the Island. Santa Eulalia is a beautiful seaside town with an attractive beach, tranquil harbour and many good shops and eateries. The town has a lazy laid back feel and is perfect for families or couples who like a quieter holiday.

Take a single trip to Ibiza – The clubs

Es Paradis is a legend to anybody traveling to Ibiza for the first time and an old friend to anybody returning to the island. Ignoring the standard rules of the nightclub Es Paradis has no dark dingy corners. Instead the entire club is painted white and brightly lit. The internal décor is reminiscent of a roman temple and this coupled with the amazing light show adds up to an impressive visual experience. The sound system is huge delivering an incredible volume and the club is full of tropical plants and flowers. Toward the end of the evening the dancefloor fills with foam as foam is pumped out onto the partygoers. All in all it’s a fantastic night out.

Privilege is an out of town club which can only be reached by car or bus. Unlike any other club in Europe Privilege has a dance floor which holds approximately 7000 people and is built around a huge hanger with small forests surrounding it on all sides. There are live shows throughout the night and when you have had enough of dancing you can go out to one of the forests, find a bar, buy a drink and sit back and look at the stars. Privilege is home to one of Ibiza’s most famous club nights. Manumisson.

Café Del Mar is probably Ibiza’s most famous bar. Starting out as a small bar at the western end of San Antonio it has grown into a huge international brand. Designed around a “fluffy clouds” theme Café Del Mar fronts onto a tiny rock beach at the far end of San Antonio but although the beach is nothing special, the sunset that can be viewed from there is spectacular. Café Del Mar realize this and every night a DJ plays a set of music which perfectly complements the sunset. If it’s a beautiful clear night the music will be based around that but if a cloud suddenly appears in front of the sun the music will change to reflect this. The result is a truly amazing experience which you share with hundreds of new friends.
