Racquetball

Racquetball is a sport that you can play alone, with a friend, or a group of friends, for recreational purposes during travel. It allows you to exercise while having a lot of fun, too. When playing racquetball during travel, make sure you have your travel insurance with you. The nature of the game puts you at risk of some minor and even major injuries.

Injuries that can be obtained during a game or racquetball vary from minor to major. These include eye injuries when hit by the ball, the most common of which is hyphema. Other eye injuries related to this sport are lid hemorrhage or laceration, iritis, corneal abrasions, and vitreous or retinal hemorrhages.

The nature of the game which involves sudden, sharp movements from side-to-side and front-to-back also makes your lower extremities prone to injuries. Knee damage can result in long term impairment.

Other common racquetball injuries include shoulder sprains and separations, lateral epicondylitis, or tennis elbow, stenosing tenosynovitis, especially DeQuervain's disease, ligamentous injuries, tendinitis, tears of the triangular fibrocartilage complex, patellar pain syndrome, meniscal injuries, plantaris tendon tear, acute ankle sprains, achilles tendinitis, and plantar fasciitis.

Racquetball is considered a Grade 1 risk sport, with a low chance of injury. Still, injuries may require ambulatory services, hospitalization, surgery, and even rehabilitation. When engaging in this sport, it is a good idea to secure sports travel insurance so you never have to worry about expensive medical bills.
