Pony trekking is one of the best ways to explore beautiful green scenery-you can go across meadows, green lanes, bridgeways, hills, forestry, moor land, stony tracks, fords, woodland, limestone pavements, and grassy tracks. You can go pony trekking whether you are an experienced rider or a beginner. It is available for all ages, usually from eight years old and up. Different ponies and horses are available for all ages and abilities. Treks can last from 30 minutes to two day trail rides (with overnight stops at farmhouses or bed and breakfasts en-route). All treks are usually accompanied by trekking guides to navigate and ensure your safety.
Riding a pony or a horse is inherently risky however-falling off a horse can pose some serious injuries. Remember to take your travel insurance with you when engaging in this recreation. Injuries that can be obtained from pony trekking result from falling off the horse. This usually happens when the horse is too fast or when the horse jumps. Injuries can vary from simple to major. The most common injuries in pony trekking are bruises, sprains, strains, dislocations, fractures, and concussions. There are also permanent injuries that can lead to long-term side effects such as paralysis or seizures from spinal injuries or head injuries.
Pony trekking is considered a Grade 1 risk sport, with a low chance for injury. It is advised that you bring travel insurance with you when pony trekking.
