Cheap family travel insurance customers could find Iceland a ""steal""

Families could find Iceland a ''steal''

16 September 2009

Those shopping for a cheap family holiday should consider Iceland for a bargain break, it has been suggested.

According to travelsupermarket.com, the country is currently a "steal" of a holiday destination due to the financial collapse.

Spokesman Bob Atkinson explained the economy has contracted due to the demise of a number of Icelandic banks.

While this may be bad news for investors in the lenders, holidaymakers are able to take advantage, he stated.

"When we go there, we are getting more currency there to our pound and it makes it more affordable than it was," Mr Atkinson said.

The expert added families looking for a good deal could also find it in other destinations - assuming they shop around.

Meanwhile, a recent Tesco Travel Money statement revealed 34 per cent of Brits intend to spend less on their holidays this year than ever before and suggested those who want to stretch their budgets head to eastern Europe.
