AITO: Families are spending ''quality time'' together on holiday

19 August 2009

Holidays are an increasingly important way for people to de-stress and spend time with their family.

That is according to Kate Kenward, executive director at the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO), who spoke about the growing popularity of family breaks during the recession.

She said: "For many families their holidays are becoming more important as a way of spending quality time together without the distractions of today''s busy lifestyle.

"Despite the recession families are still looking forward to and booking their holidays as they realise it''s impossible to put a price on the value of a relaxing break, whether overseas or in the UK."

According to the results of a survey by HolidayExtras.com, 42 per cent of British holidaymakers cited ''being with loved ones'' as the best thing about holidays.

The research also garnered that discovering a new place was the second most exciting holiday element, garnering 35 per cent of the vote.
