Spain is ''home away from home'' for Brits

12 June 2009

British travellers who venture to Spain this summer will find it a safe and homely destination.

That is according to market analyst for the Spanish Tourist Office in London, Carmen Hernandez, who claims that almost nine out of ten tourists who travelled to Spain last year have holidayed there before.

He said: "We want to emphasise the idea of how Spain is a home from home for British tourists.

"The links between both countries are undeniable and strong. They feel safe and secure there and they know they can communicate easily with people."

Mr Hernandez also asserted that British tourists in Spain can be confident of safe roads and the "best healthcare".

In recent years, young British travellers have helped to increase the popularity of Spain''s largest island Majorca, according to data released by Co-operative travel.

Spain was recently named the best value eurozone destination in the annual Post Office Holiday Cost Barometer.
