Passengers can enjoy an unusual wedding
Stockholm airport offering mile-high weddings
04 February 2009Engaged couples travelling through Stockholm Arlanda airport this year will have the opportunity to get married in some new and unusual locations.
Some 523 couples tied the knot at the airport in 2008, an increase of six per cent on the previous year, and that figure could rise further this year as a number of new wedding venues are made available.
Travellers will have the opportunity to say their vows in Stockholm Arlanda''s air traffic control tower or even on the wing of a jumbo jet.
Helena Miller, press officer at the airport, said: "For couples who want to prioritise their honeymoon trip, a wedding at Stockholm Arlanda directly in conjunction with an air trip is a good solution.
"Couples getting married there receive the same service as royalty, Nobel laureates, rock stars, corporate executives, sports stars and presidents."
The airport offers a VIP service that sees staff take care of couples'' baggage, tickets and passports, checking them in for their honeymoon flight while the ceremony is taking place.
