Prague ''a cheap holiday destination'' in 2009
06 January 2009Prague will be one of the year''s top city break destinations for people looking for affordable trips, according to the Daily Telegraph.
In its guide to the year''s best options for budget travel, the newspaper said that the Czech capital is "looking like a good destination".
According to reports, the city boasts some of the lowest accommodation prices in Europe an average of around £75 per room per night.
The local currency is also beneficial for British travellers, as the pound has only fallen by about four per cent against the Czech koruna over the past year, compared to its dramatic slide against the euro.
One of the best times to visit the city this year will be between May 12th and June 3rd, when it will host the Prague Spring International Music Festival.
Istanbul was also recommended for people looking for cheap city breaks this year, along with Iceland for adventure travellers and China, Australia and New Zealand for long-haul holidaymakers.
