More people want to holiday in the mountains

Holidaymakers choose exotic locations

13 October 2008

People are getting more adventurous when it comes to choosing a holiday, Group Leisure magazine has said.

Managing editor and publisher Rob Yandell said that there has been a growing trend for people to look at more adventure and quality at a very reasonable price when choosing a holiday.

This argument was supported by research from Cater Allen private bank which found that 26 per cent of Brits wish to explore somewhere off the beaten track, while 22 per cent would holiday in the mountains.

Mr Yandell said: "Like lots of other areas of travel, people are getting more adventurous, looking for new and exciting worldwide destinations. The world is a smaller place and the options are vast."

According to the Association of British Travel Agents, 83 per cent of those people who have been on a recent overseas holiday are planning to take another one in the next 12 months.
