Belfast hosts beer festival
26 September 2008All the excitement of the world''s biggest beer festival is set to come to Belfast at a new event, according to reports.
Oktoberfest Events UK Ltd is bringing all the magic of Germany''s famous Munich Beer Festival to Ireland next month.
Highlights will include Bavarian dancing girls and traditional food, but the main attraction is bound to be the beer on sale.
A huge German beer tent will hold approximately 3,500 people over five nights, from October 7th to 11th in Custon House Square.
Imported drinks including Paulaner Oktoberfest Lager, brewed specifically for the festival will be served by costume-wearing staff in classic ''steins'' glasses.
It is hoped the festival will be so successful that it can be repeated, with Belfast City Council open to calls to make it an annual fixture on Belfast''s entertainment calendar.
Every year the Munich Beer Festival attracts six million visitors to the German city and it is expected a considerable number will also fly in to Belfast to find out how the event is reinterpreted in Ireland.
