Golfers may have a challenge getting a hole-in-one in South Australia as the region will soon be home to the world''s longest golf course, according to reports.

The South Australia Tourism Commission revealed that the Eyre Highway Operators Association has joined up with AusIndustry, a federal government initiative, to start work on Nullarbor Links.

In total the 18-hole, par 72 golf course will cover 1,365km, with holes in a number of participating towns and roadhouses between Kalgoorlie in Western Australia and Ceduna in South Australia.

There will also be plenty of accommodation near the course, with plans underway to build 11 new hotels along its route.

The South Australia Tourism Commission provided details of a number of other events and activities related to the state''s travel industry, including the World Food Exchange this month.

This event is expected to boost culinary tourism in South Australia and give visitors an insight into the region''s sustainable seafood and aquaculture industries.
