29 July 2008

Film lovers will be thoroughly entertained when a gay film festival is held in Dublin next month, it has been reported.

Gaze: The Dublin International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival has attracted the best gay films from around the globe and will be taking place in the Irish Film Centre from the July 31st to August 4th.

Celebrating its 16th year, Gaze will offer visitors the opportunity to watch a programme of films including 50 premieres, new independent features, documentaries, shorts, award winners and experimental films.

One interesting feature of this year''s festival allows directors to give their homosexual perspective on legendary movies from yesteryear.

Director Mark O''Halloran will give the audience his slant on the classic Hunchback of Notre Dame when he presents the iconic movie during its showing at the festival.

Research from Tourism Ireland revealed that of the 4.97 million Britons who visited Ireland in 2006, 63 per cent stayed in Dublin.
