The site reportedly makes it easier to get passport applications accepted
Website ''guarantees'' passport photo acceptance
01 July 2008A website has been launched which guarantees to provide pictures that will be accepted by the Passport Agency.
Around 14 per cent of passport applications are rejected because the applicant''s picture does not meet the biometric standards required by the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
The website, Paspic.com, allows users to take their own photograph using a digital camera, which can then be uploaded onto the site.
This image is then formatted and checked, both digitally and manually, so that it meets the 20 different requirements imposed by the Passport Agency.
Pictures that are in accordance with the standards are printed out and sent back to the applicant within 48 hours. In the event that a Paspic photo isn''t accepted, a new set of pictures will be created free of charge or the applicant''s money will be refunded.
The site is being promoted at 400 post office branches at Martin McColl newsagents around the country.
Kevan Hughes, the chain''s post office operations manager, said: "We want to make it as easy as possible for our customers to get passport pictures that are accepted. Paspic''s guaranteed results cut out customer frustration, saving time and money."
The site has reportedly proven popular with families owing to the difficulty of taking photos of babies or young children that are accepted by the Passport Agency.
