Regular travellers urged to take out annual policies

24 April 2008

Annual travel insurance is a highly advisable option for people who take regular holidays several times a year, an expert has claimed.

According to Peter Gerrard, head of insurance research at Moneysupermarket.com, it is more beneficial for people to take out an annual travel insurance policy if they go away three or more times a year.

He added: "Annual policies are so cheap now.

"Before they used to be a couple of hundred pounds, but now you can get an annual policy for an individual just going to Europe for just over £30."

Mr Gerrard also stressed that travel insurance is important for the shortest of trips, to ensure peace of mind in the event of an accident or being the victim of crime.

"If you're going abroad just for a day it [insurance] is important just for the medical element alone," he said.

A recent YouGov survey of more than 2,300 people found that 37 per cent had something stolen from them during a holiday in Spain, while 19 per cent experienced theft in France.ADNFCR-1337-ID-18566154-ADNFCR
