Parents 'determined to take family holidays'
24 April 2008Family travel insurance will prove as important as every this year, as parents are determined to take a summer holiday with their children, despite ongoing financial problems.
Mychild.co.uk, an online information resource for parents, polled more than a thousand people and concluded that 95 per cent of families are definitely or very probably going on holiday this summer.
A third of respondents said that they had already booked this year's trip.
Two thirds of parents are planning to visit somewhere in the UK this year, according to the survey, while the most popular destinations among the remaining 60 per cent were Spain, France, America and Greece.
Denise Roberts, a resource manager at mychild.co.uk, said: "Overall the results of the survey tie in with research conducted by Mintel two years ago which showed that families are increasingly seeing the family holiday break as a necessity rather than a luxury.
"The summer school holiday period remains the peak time for family travel."
According to research by Mintel, families account for around 28 per cent of the total holiday market.
