Heathrow, London City punctuality down in '07
16 April 2008The Civil Aviation Authority has released punctuality figures for scheduled airlines at the UK's ten major airports in the last quarter of 2007, showing that Heathrow and London City were the only airports to see a decline in performance.
There was a one per cent year-on-year fall in on-time rates at Heathrow during the period and a ten per cent decline at London City.
Between October and December last year, the overall level of punctuality of scheduled carriers at UK airports increased by one per cent.
The average delay fell to 17 minutes at all monitored airports in the fourth quarter of 2007, with the exception of London City, where the average hold-up increased by five minutes to 20 minutes.
Among the 75 most popular scheduled and charter destinations from UK airports, routes to Lisbon, Dubai, Istanbul, Rome and Los Angeles all had punctuality rates of less than 55 per cent.
Lisbon had the lowest on-time performance (49 per cent) and the longest average delay (29 minutes), while Malta, New York JFK and Los Angeles also had average hold-ups of 25 minutes or more.
