More visitors expected in Morocco

More travellers are expected to head to the flourishing tourist destination of Morocco this year, according to reports.

Concerns have been expressed that fears over terrorism could make people reluctant to visit Morocco, Reuters reports.

However, Mohamed Boussaid, the country's tourism minister, said that the industry is showing no signs of diverting from its current path of growth.

"Tourism in Morocco is very healthy," he said. "There is no slowdown."

Last year, some 7.4 million foreign tourists visited Morocco, which was a record figure and comprised rising numbers of British, French, Spanish and Italian visitors.

That figure is expected to continue to increase over the coming years and could reach close to ten million in 2010.

Morocco is home to a number of attractions and areas that prove attractive to tourists, including seaside resorts and old towns.
