Turkey 'gives you more for your money'
01 April 2008The Post Office has said that travellers holidaying in Turkey are likely to make their pound go further than those heading to other destinations.
A report conducted by the organisation found that along with Portugal and Hungary, the country is among the best short-haul destinations for Brits looking to get a good currency rate.
The What the Pound Buys Abroad study showed that sterling strengthened against Turkish currency more than other countries which are often cited as cheap such as Thailand, Croatia and Poland.
"Based on this, Hungary, Turkey and Portugal look to offer the best value in the short haul market while New York and Dubai are good bets for holidaymakers who want to restrict travel time to below eight hours," said Helen Warburton, Post Office head of travel.
"When time is not a concern, South Africa and Jamaica are great value destinations," she added.
Holidaymakers jetting of to Turkey this summer are advised to invest in travel insurance to ensure they are covered for any eventuality.
