Bordeaux Wine Festival to toast ten years
28 March 2008Wine lovers will be given an ideal excuse to take a holiday to France this year as the Bordeaux Wine Festival celebrates its tenth year.
The event will mark the milestone between June 26th and 29th, with a change of scenery arranged to honour the occasion.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the festival at quays on the bank of the Garonne River, from Pont de Pierre to the Bourse Maritime.
As well as the obvious surfeit of wine that will be available, holidaymakers will also be able to enjoy plenty of food and culture in this Unesco world heritage site.
Every year, the Bordeaux Wine Festival takes another world location as its 'guest of honour' - this year the guest city will be Saint Petersburg. In recent years the role has been filled by Oporto, Munich and Fukuoka.
A pavilion will be set up to explore the exchanges that have existed between Bordeaux and Saint Petersburg in fields including aerospace, research, art and language.
The festival will kick off on June 26th with musical performances by groups including the Bordeaux Aquitaine National Orchestra and the Bordeaux Opera Choir.
