InterRail passengers urged to remember insurance
12 February 2008People considering travelling Europe by InterRail, a train network that offers connections throughout the continent, have been warned not to underestimate their need for travel insurance.
A spokeswoman for holiday company STA Travel said the traits of an InterRail trip make travel insurance very important.
"With all your possessions in one bag, it is [advisable] to take adequate travel insurance," she said.
"Also, make sure your insurance also covers the loss or theft of your InterRail pass."
The STA Travel representative also warned of the problems that can occur on any holiday and advised people considering an InterRail trip that engineering works or other issues can impede the progress of a trip.
According to online travel community Gapyear.com, one in four young travellers head off around the world either uninsured or underinsured.
The site's statistics also reveal that the average spend of an 18- to 24-year-old person going travelling is between £3,000 and £4,000.
