Many people travelling from the UK by plane find the experience worrying and stressful, according to research.

Travel add-ons company Holiday Extras polled 1,000 people who had flown at least once in the last year and found that one in two people said that they felt rushed and anxious when using UK airports.

Some 37 per cent of travellers said that missing their flight or arriving late was their primary concern, Travelmole reports.

More than three-quarters of the respondents said that parents of young children and babies endure the most stressful experiences at UK airports.

Delays to flights, cancellations and lost baggage are other factors that can contribute to the strain of air travel, all of which can be covered with travel insurance.

Scottish and Welsh people appear to be the least stress-prone when travelling, with 60 per cent saying that they feel relaxed and happy before boarding a flight.ADNFCR-1337-ID-18453349-ADNFCR
