Mobile phones cause flight cancellation

Mobile phones cause flight cancellation

21 January 2008

A plane due to depart Milan was forced to cancel its journey after some passengers refused to turn off their mobile phones, reports claim.

The captain of the Alitalia flight asked three times for all people on board to switch off their phones.

Three passengers refused to turn their mobiles off, however, and the pilot was forced to abort the flight shortly before take-off when he noticed interference with the plane's instruments.

The trio that left their phones on were arrested on January 19th and were not able to rely on their travel insurance to cover any costs incurred as the delay of their journey was their own fault.

Police boarded the plane and took the passengers away and the three people could now face prosecution.

The plane was finally able to depart Milan for Bari, in south-east Italy, after a delay of an hour and a half.ADNFCR-1337-ID-18435335-ADNFCR
