Edinburgh passengers warned of disruptions
09 January 2008Holidaymakers flying from Edinburgh airport have been warned that services from the hub are currently suffering disruptions.
A notice issued by the airport informed travellers that strong winds are affecting flights both to and from Scotland, a fact that could make travel insurance important for many people.
A number of domestic flights have already been cancelled and other international services are also subject to delay.
Passengers were advised to check the status of their flight with their airline.
In another announcement, Edinburgh airport confirmed that travellers are now able to carry more than one item of hand baggage through security, following the government's relaxation of security rules.
While many have welcomed this development, some have warned that it could cause confusion among holidaymakers.
Tom Hall, a travel writer at Lonely Planet, told BBC Radio Five Live: "I think what we will see is lots of staff on hand at airports, especially those that aren't implementing the two-bag rule, lots of reminders to people before they get to security that this is what the restrictions are.
"That should minimise disruption, but there is bound to be a bit of last minute packing and repacking, so it may be worth allowing just a little bit of extra time."
