EasyJet plane forced into emergency landing

18 December 2007 Low-fares airline easyJet was involved in a potentially dangerous situation when one of its planes was forced to make an emergency landing with 118 people on board.

The aircraft was forced to turn around shortly after taking off from Nottingham East Midlands airport, according to the BBC.

Reports from the plane's cabin crew suggested that problems relating to cabin pressure were the cause of the emergency landing.

The incident, which highlighted the importance of travel insurance to cover all eventualities for holidaymakers, ended without injury to any passengers or crew as the Airbus A319 landed safely, shortly after 06:30 GMT on December 18th.

An easyJet spokesperson said that inspection of the aircraft identified a fault with its air conditioning system.
