Continental warns of cancellations, delays
13/12/2007Continental Airlines has warned its passengers that flights in the north-eastern United States will be subject to cancellations and delays as a result of severe weather conditions.
Many travellers could find their travel insurance for skiing holidays come in useful, as the north-eastern United States is the location of a number of popular winter sports locations, including New Hampshire and Vermont.
Continental said that people travelling through the region on December 13th and 14th may wish to consider delaying their trips.
The north-east is the latest part of the US to be hit by severe winter weather, which has swept through the centre of the country this week, causing serious problems in states such as Oklahoma and Colorado.
Some 1.2 million people were thought to be without power in America's Central Plains during the week.
There were also a number of traffic accidents caused by icy roads and airports in Kansas City and Tulsa were forced to cancel flights following loss of power.
