Not only is it cheaper than car rental, it is also easier to handle and it lets you better appreciate the outdoors. Though it offers less storage, motorcycles have lower maintenance costs and can be used both for quick errands and long trips. Motorcycle accidents are fairly common, however, so always take safety measures and secure travel insurance before renting a motorcycle.

Whether you're driving fast or riding slowly to enjoy the countryside, the biggest motorcycling risk is collision with other vehicles. If not fatal, such accidents can result in cuts and bruises, organ damage and hemorrhage, and head and brain injuries. These usually take time to heal and can be expensive to treat, especially if you have no travel insurance.

Motorcycle rentals are usually available from airports and hotels, along with car rental services. Most major cities have motorcycle lanes to minimize collision risks. Always wear a helmet and other safety equipment when riding, as your insurance provider may not cover you if your injuries could have been prevented by simple safety measures. Also wear protective padding for exposed joints such as the knees, elbows, and shoulders, and cycling boots for riding off-road. Make sure your have sufficient travel insurance before riding a motorcycle.
