Horse jumping

Horse jumping is the most dangerous equestrian activity, and injuries resulting from it are easily among the most serious injuries in the field of sports. In fact, the United States National Electronic Injury Surveillance System finds that incidence of horse jumping related accidents increases every year, and that it is far more dangerous than social riding or flat racing. So if you plan to engage in this activity while on travel, be sure you have sports travel insurance. This way, you can get insured medical treatment and support even when you're in another territory.

Injuries from horse jumping range from mild to critical, but almost all require hospitalization. Simple bruises and cuts may get infected if not cared for properly. A lot of equestrians also suffer from inflammation in the tendons of the shoulder and legs, not to mention sprains and dislocations.

More serious injuries usually result from the unpredictability of the horse's behavior. In some cases, you may be bitten or kicked by the animal, causing you to develop fractures and fatal concussions in the head, back, shoulders, arms, or legs, thereby requiring you to seek immediate medical attention. In extreme cases, you can be thrown off the horse and suffer spinal injuries. Thoracic, lumbar and cervical fractures may need immediate hospitalization.

The dangers of horse jumping are grave - so much so that horse jumping is classified as a Grade 4 risk. But this should not prevent travelers like you from enjoying the sport you love during travel. Be sure to secure sports travel insurance to protect yourself financially should you incur a horse jumping accident.
