Football

Whether you want to get fit or simply learn something new, football is one of the best sports to try during vacation. It is widely available in most countries and is fairly easy to learn, making it ideal for all types of tourists. Since it's a team sport, it's great for large groups or families vacationing together. However, it's also a contact sport, which means it carries some risk of injury. We recommend securing your travel insurance if you're planning to play football during your trip.

Most football injuries result from falls and impact with other players. Some of the most common are scratches, bruises, and leg and ankle injuries. Broken bones and concussions may also occur from hard falls. These are easily prevented by protective clothing such as helmets, shoulder pads, and knee and shoulder pads. Injuries can take a while to heal and may be expensive to treat, so it's best to have your travel insurance in place before playing.

There are good football fields in most countries, which are usually open to tourists. The best time to play is in the summer or in cool, dry weather. If you are visiting a foreign country, make sure you play within your own skill level to avoid injuring yourself or other players. If possible, look for a playing area with emergency and first-aid facilities, or at least access to nearby hospitals.

Football has a risk rating of Grade 1, which means it has relatively low risk of injury. Still, it is best to have your travel insurance in place before trying it out.
