Fencing

Fencing is one of the most popular sports to learn during vacation. It provides an intense- full-body workout, making it a great way to get in shape while having fun. It also helps develop several skills, such as accuracy, balance, speed, and mind and body coordination. It even helps improve your posture and refine your movements. However, fencing takes time to learn and carries some risk of injury. If you're interested in learning fencing during your vacation, we recommend securing your travel insurance beforehand.

Bruises are the most common among fencing injuries, caused by the impact of the metal swords against the body (usually the chest and biceps). Lack of balance can cause you to fall and sprain your ankle, or break your arm or wrist if you land on the wrong side. Other common injuries are pulled muscles, cuts and scratches, and occasionally, broken or dislocated bones. These injuries can be very painful and take time to heal. If you do not have travel insurance, they can also cost a lot to treat.

If you are traveling to a foreign city and want to try fencing during your visit, ask around if there are fencing clubs in your destination that are open to tourists. Most clubs should offer beginner lessons that let you learn at a comfortable pace. Make sure they have safety equipment such as suits and masks.

Fencing is considered a Grade 1 risk sport. This means it has a relatively low risk of injury, since protective masks and suits are standard equipment in the game. Still, it's best to have your insurance ready in case of accidents.
