European Travel Insurance

There are three types of European travel insurance polices you can choose between.

  • Single trip Europe travel insurance polices are valid for trips up to 31 days
  • Annual European travel insurance polices allow trips up to 45 days if you are aged 0-64 and 31 days if you are 65-74
  • Student Europe travel insurance polices allow continuous trips up to one year. Ideal if you want to backpack Europe, or go inter railing in the school holidays

Travel Insurance for Europe

As Turkey, Cyprus, Tunisia and Morocco are all popular holiday destinations we include them on our cheap travel insurance for Europe polices. This ensures that you are getting the lowest possible price for your Europe travel insurance and don't have to purchase worldwide travel insurance which will bump up the price.

E111 Insurance

E111 insurance ceased to exist in January 2006. It has been replaced with a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) which works on a similar basis. The card can be used in EU countries to provide free or reduced cost medical treatment.

You should note that the EHIC card does not cover the cost of any treatments in private medical centres which can cause problems as some resorts call private ambulances and you will get taken to a private clinic. The EHIC card also does not include repatriation or cover you against cancellation or curtailment of your holiday, baggage loss, legal expenses etc. It is solely for medical cover in state run hospitals and at times access to state run hospitals may not be extensive. This is why it is advisable to take out Europe holiday insurance before you travel.
