Michigan is comprised of two peninsulas, divided by Lake Michigan, and is surrounded by lakes Superior, Huron and Erie. Getting There

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport is the major air hub and offers direct flights around America, as well as international flights to London, Amsterdam and Tokyo. Regional flights are also available throughout the state. There is a daily rail service to Michigan from Ohio and Chicago, and Amtrak also runs daily trains between Ann Arbor and Detroit. For those travelling by car by car, I-75 comes up from Ohio, and then goes through Detroit and on up north towards Canada. I-69 comes up from Indiana, passes through Flint and runs off east towards Ontario (Canada). The east-west I-94 links up with the I-69 (north of Detroit) and then goes through Gary, Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison before heading across to Seattle (Washington).

Safety

Always take regular breaks when driving across long distances and be particularly wary of leaving your car parked on the streets at night in any city, especially Detroit. Weather in Michigan

Heavy snowfalls are commonplace in the northern reaches of the area. The summers are particularly hot and the winters very cold.
