Travel to Benidorm

Benidorm is one of Spain’s premier beach resorts and the Costa Blanca’s main party town. Well known for its lovely, wide beaches and excellent bathing, together with a legendary nightlife and host of entertainment options, Benidorm is a favourite holiday destination for thousands of returning tourists.

Getting there

Alicante Airport is south of its city and receives flights from all over Europe, both scheduled and charter; Madrid is a 45-minute flight away. Bus C-6 goes to Alicante’s centre, from where local buses go to Benidorm. The nearest train station is a one-kilometre walk, or short taxi ride away. Regular shuttles are also available.

Benidorms principal attractions, playa de Levante (Sunrise beach) and playa de Poniente (Sunset beach) are among Europe’s prettiest beaches and hold the coveted European blue flag award. There is a scattering of historical interest in the old town, with the castle ruins providing spectacular views over the resort.

Out and about

If you hanker for a more secluded beach, head north to Javea and Denia, an easy drive up the A-7 or along the more scenic coastal route. The rocky coastline here protects some wonderful little bays. Inland from here is the interesting little town of Jalon and the gorgeous Jalon Valley, famed for its orange and lemon groves. Alicante has a wonderful Spanish atmosphere, beautiful promenades for strolling and the imposing Santa Barbara Castle.

Leisure Options

By day, Benidorm abounds with activities, from numerous water sports, to fishing and golf. Benidorm also boasts an excellent water park. The marina complex has great shopping, and plentiful cafés, bars and restaurants. By night, Benidorm rocks with a myriad of bars, pubs and clubs that never seem to sleep.

Safety

Holidaymakers are not as alert as they would be at home and are therefore more prone to pickpocketing and other crimes. Always be aware of this, especially at night around the drinking areas. Water sports and driving also place the visitor at a greater risk of having an accident, so you should remain vigilant. We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance for you and your family.

The most popular time to visit Benidorm is between May and October. During this time the weather is guaranteed to be sunny and warm most of the time. The temperature can reach up to 40C in August, with the sea at a very comfortable 25C Some people think it is too hot and crowded during the busy season and many visitors come out during the spring and winter months when it is cooler.
