Another town that should not be missed is Cork, from where you can visit the famous Blarney Stone, historic Cobh and pretty Kinsale. Known the world over for its gorgeous scenery, County Kerry is home to Ireland’s highest mountain, Carrantuohill, as well as the Lakes of Killarney. The panoramic Ring of Kerry drive on the Iveragh Peninsula is a must. The route stretches southwest from Killarney for 65km and passes through the towns of Kenmare, Sneem, Waterville, Cahirciveen, Glenbeigh and Killorglin. Stunning coastal scenery can be found along the western end of the Dingle Peninsula, which reaches westward for 50kms, from Tralee to Dunquin. Also worth visiting, the northwest region of Ireland encompasses Donegal, Cavan, Sligo, Leitrim and Monaghan. The area offers wild coastline, softly flowing streams, boglands, and rivers and lakes full of fish. Alternatively, the Donegal region is ruggedly beautiful, boasting the Slieve League (the highest sea cliffs in Europe) and endless sandy beaches good for water sports and strolling. Armagh is Northern Irelands most historical city. Also of interest, Derry/Londonderry, to the northwest, is an intriguing walled city which was the site of many battles. Anywhere in the country, you’ll want to enjoy the famous local hospitality and a Guinness in one of the many pubs. Irish music and dance are also popular, with many venues in which to enjoy them.
