India is an enormous and hugely diverse country that offers visitors a memorable experience that is beyond most people’s expectations. Dehli, the capital of India, boasts an impressive fort, reminiscent of the city’s Mughal past and a maze of curious streets and alleys in the old city. Only a short trip north of the city is Agra, where you can enjoy picturesque views along the river and admire one of the world’s most impressive buildings, the Taj Mahal.

Mumbai, formerly known by the British as Bombay, is the capital of Bollywood cinema and boasts a lively beach at Chowpatty and some interesting architectural leftovers from the city’s colonial days. Bangalore in the southern tip of India is a busy metropolis full of thriving streets where cars, cows, motorbikes and rickshaws weave the roads creating an electric atmosphere.

On the western coast of India lies Goa. Popular with the hippy community, Goa’s beautiful stretch of coastline makes it the ideal place to escape from the heat and frenetic action of India’s busy cities and put your feet up to relax on the deserted beaches. Farther south is Kerala, boasting the highest literacy rate in India; this state is covered in luscious palms and hospitable, friendly smiles from the locals.

India is an inexpensive and relatively safe country to travel in. Caution should be exercised over your belongings when travelling on trains or buses and it is strongly advisable to make sure you are up to date with your vaccinations prior to departure.
