The harbour-front road, known as Front street, is the main attraction. It is a bustling thoroughfare lined with 100-year-old Victorian buildings, boutiques and restaurants in bright and eye-pleasing pastel colours. Attractions in Hamilton include the Underwater Exploration Institute and the Bermuda Perfumery. The spectacular Crystal Caves are just outside the city. For fantastic panoramic views, head for Fort Hamilton on a hill overlooking the town and bay; here you can also enjoy tea in the tearoom. Another worthwhile attraction in Hamilton is the neo-Gothic Bermuda Cathedral with its lofty clock tower that also affords beautiful views over the town. The historical heart and original capital of Bermuda, St George, on St George Island, is a town of twisting alleyways and colonial-era buildings. You can still see the stocks used to punish the unruly in Kings Square outside the Town Hall. St George also boasts several good museums and has many excellent pubs, restaurants and shops. Other beaches on Bermuda include the pristine and busy Horseshoe Bay Beach in Southampton Parish, while Warwick Long Bay, in Warwick Parish, is a lot less touristy and places emphasis on peace and quiet. Nearby Jobson’s Cove has perfect snorkelling. On the southern shore is Church Bay, which again has superb snorkelling but is unprotected and can be rough in adverse weather. Also on the southern shore are the spectacular 11-metre limestone arches known as the Natural Arches.
