Getting There
Milwaukees international airport is served by most domestic carriers as well as some international airlines. Madison also has an international airport, but its only international flights are from Canada. There is also a small airport in La Crosse and one in the north in Stevens Point.
It’s best to travel by car through the state, to see the most rural areas. Wisconsin is served by I-94 and I-90, east-west. I-94 enters the state in the west from Minnesota and merges with I-90 in the centre of the state, and then splits again on the way to Milwaukee. I-90 enters Wisconsin in the west from Minnesota in La Crosse, and goes on to Madison.
Safety
Travelling to any unfamiliar environment can put visitors at risk of accidents and other dangers, the least of which is missed travel arrangements. Additionally, tourists should beware of pickpockets in larger cities, especially at night around entertainment areas. Its best to take out travel insurance before visiting Wisconsin.
Weather in Wisconsin
Generally spring, summer and fall are pleasant throughout the state and the humidity is manageable. Conditions along lakes Michigan and Superior can change very quickly. In winter, extreme conditions are possible and over-night temperatures below zero are normal.
