Commercial airlines serve nine of the largest cities and towns, with Sioux Falls acting as the major gateway. There is no rail service in South Dakota; however, Greyhound buses link the major towns with connections across the US.
By car, the major interstate highways in South Dakota are I-90, which crosses the state in an east-west direction and I-29, which runs from north to south, paralleling the states border with Minnesota and Iowa. State highways and roads connect the rest of the towns and scenic destinations.
