Travel to Roscoff

Situated in Brittany, Roscoff was once the landing site of Mary Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charlie. Today this small resort town boasts a lively atmosphere, especially apparent along rue Gambetta and in the old port area.

Information on Roscoffs key attractions

A main feature of Roscoff, the Notre-Dame-de-Croas-Batz, at the far end of rue Gambetta, dates back to the 16th century and is elegantly decorated with Renaissance architecture.

A pleasant stroll will lead you about one kilometre down the coast to Roscoff’s best beach at Laber. At Le Maison des Jonnies, you can hear the story of the Jonnies, the classic beret-sporting onion sellers.

Out and about

Nearby Isle De Batz is easily accessible by hired boat and makes for a great daytrip. Boats leave from Pointe de Bloscon, also home of the fishermens white chapel.

Leisure options

Some charming restaurants can be found in the old town; the Hotel-Restaurant des Arcades, 15 rue Amiral-Reveillere, is housed in a 16th century building and boasts scenic surroundings. Hotel-Restaurant le Bellevue, rue Jeanne dArc (close to the ferry terminal), is a lively place to have a drink and meet the locals.

Safety

When travelling to an unfamiliar environment, remain alert for potential hazards. Tourists can more easily fall prey to pickpockets and scam artists. Additionally, boating, outdoor activities and driving place you at greater risk of having an accident. Language barriers and strange routines can also result in missed travel arrangements. We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance for you or your family when visiting Roscoff.

Weather in Roscoff

Brittany has a true temperate, maritime climate. The winters are mild with temperatures of around 7C and the summer can also be quite cool. Summer temperatures may only reach about 16C. It is also quite a damp area with about 170 days of rain a year.
