Info on Cognac Key attractions

This medieval town which bears the name of the region, is quite attractive, boasting narrow cobbled streets and elegant Renaissance façades. Probably the first sight you’ll notice as you enter Cognac is the castle where King Francois I was born in 1494. The guided tour of the St-Gobain Glassworks, two kilometres south of town, is impressive.

Cognac has been created here since the 17th century and the air here is permeated by the heavy scent of spirits evaporating from oak casks. World famous companies such as Camus, Hennessy, Niartell, Otard, Prince Hubert de Polignac, Rémy-Martin, Courvoisier, and Renault-Bisquit are all located here. A guided tour will take you through the double-distilling process that goes on in copper stills.
