You can fly here daily from London, Southampton and Paris. The journey into town by taxi takes five minutes and costs around €7. By car from Bordeaux, head east on the D936 for 90kms to Bergerac. By train from Paris, take the Bordeaux-bound TGV train from Paris Montparnasse station; the journey takes 3 hours, 30 minutes. From here, catch a connecting train to Bergerac (one hour).Info on Bergeracs Key attractionsthe well-restored and working old centre of Bergerac is adorned with 15th century fixtures and its cute lanes are home to many half-timbered houses. Bergerac is also famous for its good museums, which depict the areas long history. Particularly interesting, the Museum of Tobacco exhibits a collection of tobacco items and paraphernalia. The centrally located Wine Museum is worth a visit; nearby is the statue of Cyrano, one of the town’s most well-known characters.Out and about in BergeracBergerac is nestled in the centre of a wine-producing region on the Dordogne River and is an attractive location from which to explore the area. If you’re here in October, don’t miss the grape harvest. Take a trip into the city of Bordeaux as well; it has a vibrant atmosphere and some fine 18th century architecture. A trip to the market town of Périgueux is also worthwhile. The daunting Cathédrale St Front is the focal point of the town, which is surrounded by vegetable farms and vineyards.
