Beach Games

Going on a beach holiday with your kids? Then you are probably planning to play some beach games, such as treasure hunting, sandcastle making contests, sand tic-tac-toe, beach bowling, and hopscotch, to name a few. Beach games are great if you want to keep your kids entertained, spend quality time with them and share a common activity that your whole family can enjoy. However, playing beach games is also potentially dangerous. Getting your kids and yourself sports travel insurance will lessen your worries so that you can relax and unwind in your beach getaway.

While beach games are relatively safe, there are still some risks involved. The beach is filled with hazardous rocks and breakwaters - you or your kids may get injured. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department also reported rare (but certainly not impossible) cases when the ocean's current is strong enough to lift a log and plop it down on top of a person, causing very serious injuries. Even the smallest of logs can do enough harm when they are completely filled with water. There are also strong rip currents that can sweep waders or beachcombers swiftly off their feet and onto the sea. In worst cases, you and your family may get harmed by fatal 'sneaker' waves that suddenly surge without warning.

Beach games are considered a Grade 1 risk sport, with a low chance of injury. Still, it is best to protect yourself and your family. When going on a beach holiday and playing beach games, we recommend that you at least get standard travel insurance cover.
